Mariana čengel Solčanská

Director, screenwriter and writer, known for films including The Kidnapping (2017), The Swine (2020), The Servant (2022) and Štúr (2026). She studied political science, cultural anthropology and film directing. Her work explores the moments that shape our society and identity.

In recent years, she has focused increasingly on stories from the past. Behind well-known historical events, she looks for the people involved – their choices, motivations and dilemmas. She believes that the way we tell our own history has a profound influence on who we are today.

She is currently filming Autobus do Vlčích dier, a film set during the Slovak National Uprising.
