Veera Heinonen

She leads Sitra’s European Union agenda from its Brussels office, the Finnish innovation fund and think tank. Previously, she headed Sitra’s strategic foresight and education work and led its Democracy programme.

Democracy and social change have been central themes throughout her career, which has spanned journalism, foreign correspondence, public service, diplomacy, and communications leadership at Finland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Office of the President of Finland.
